INDIANAPOLIS - Forums intended to help school-board candidates learn how to be informed, effective public-school leaders will be conducted at 10 Indiana sites Feb. 4-13.

Led by Indiana School Boards Association staff members, each meeting will start with registration from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and adjourn at 9 p.m. Topics will include roles and responsibilities, open meetings and executive sessions, and other issues school-board members are likely to encounter.

A session in the Jasper High School library, one of the sites nearest to Perry County, will be among the first offered Feb. 4. Other sites and dates are available at the ISBA Web Site, www.isba-ind.org by clicking on the link, "Running For School Board?"

Prospective candidates should advise the ISBA of the site they wish to attend by contacting Carol Opp at (317) 639-0330 Ext. 102, or copp@isba-ind.org, at least seven days before the date of the seminar they wish to attend. A $35 registration fee is payable at the door.
