Marksmen place second in North Harrison tourney

RAMSEY—Elizabeth Kohnert made nine kills and four blocks as Tell City beat Salem 25-14, 25-16 in the first round of North Harrison’s volleyball tourney Saturday.

Josalyn Ress and McKenzie Hayes each added five kills. Hayes had 11 assists and Ress eight.

Leslie Poole made 19 digs and Hana Reed added 15.

Tell City then lost to North Harrison 25-16, 25-18 in the championship match of the four-team tourney.

Kohnert and Hayes each made 11 kills in that match. Jamie Brinksneader and Mackenzie Weyer each added five.

Kohnert made five blocks, Hayes had 19 assists and three blocks, Miranda Zuelly had seven assists, and Reed made eight digs.

Cannelton also played in the tourney, losing North Harrison 25-6, 25-3, 25-16 and to Salem 25-8, 25-10, 25-12.

Leah Mascolo served the Bulldogs’ only ace against North Harrison. Jaci Garrett served one against Salem.

Cannelton also played a regular-season match on the road Friday, falling 25-9, 20-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-13 to Rock Creek Christian Academy.

Nakaa Myers served seven aces for Cannelton in that match and Allicyn Garrett added three.
