Marksmen fall short vs. Austin in regional

FERDINAND - Katy McIntosh's strong drives in the third quarter lifted Austin past Tell City 65-52 in the first round of the Class 2A girls basketball regional Saturday.

McIntosh, the Eagles' leading scorer for the season with a 20.3-point average, was held in check in the first half, scoring six points on one field goal and four free throws. She sat out part of that half in foul trouble.

Tell City scored the first four points of the third quarter on two free throws apiece by Kara McClintic and Lauren Goffinet to take a 29-27 lead with 5:51 left in that period.
