LETTER: Electric department requires customers to give out Social Security numbers

-A A +A

I am writing about our experience Oct. 11, 2012, with the Tell City Electric Co. We have a property in town. We went to them to put the electricity back in our name after our renter moved out. We had for years, I think since 2004 or maybe before that, been getting a bill from them and I always paid it before it was due. This time my husband had to give them his driver’s license with his picture on it, we all got that, and they also wanted his Social Security number. We all have been told time and time again never give our your Social Security number.
