LETTER: Cannelton’s old-time fashion show a hit

We congratulate the winners of the Old Time Fashion Show held Oct. 13 at the Covered Wagon during the Cannelton Heritage Fest.

They are as follows: Jackson Joyal, 3-year-old son of Jermie and Lena Joyal of Cannelton, in the boys’ division; Kylie Anastasiades, 5-year-old daughter of Matt and Margaret Anastasiades of Cannelton, in the girls’ division; Sue Berry of Henderson, Ky., and her faithful friend, Jackson, in the women’s division, and Ken Gilkey of Newburgh in the men’s division.

Linda Coleman traveled the farthest, coming from Sacramento, Ky. Margaret Schank was our oldest participant. This was her third appearance in Cannelton’s Old Time Fashion Show. Special thanks goes Mari Hinton, Susan Flamion, Charlena Williams, Manette VanWinkle, Jackie Dupont, Jane Hayden, Sandy Richards and Nova James, the Covered Wagon and R & A Sports.

Also a big thank you goes out to the National Historical Chapters of the Ohio Valley Sons of the American Revolution, Lafayette Spring and Captain Jacob Warrick chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jonathon Jennings Chapter of 1812, Cyrus Grable and Eli Huston Murray chapters of the Daughters of the Union and the Molly Morehead Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy for showing us what our ancestors would have dressed like in those periods.
