A heroes tribute: Honor Flight next month

EVANSVILLE – Honor Flight will again debark May 5 and is looking for veterans who served during Dec. 7, 1941 through June 26, 1950. Any veteran, any branch, including those who didn’t serve overseas. If the members of the Tri-State of a deserving Veteran who hasn’t flown on an Honor Flight sign them up through the website at www.honorflightsi.org

Honor Flight of Southern Indiana could also use your help with getting some valuable information out to the Tri-State community. Organizers have several events upcoming that they need community support and this is where your help comes through for service members.

• Operation Mail Call. Write a Thank You letter to an Honor Flight veteran.

On the evening of May 5, Hoosier heroes will return to Evansville after having just visited the Memorials at the Nation’s Capital, and they deserve a proper welcome home. Part of the program, they will receive and open letters from home during their return flight.

Include the veterans full name on the mailing envelope if you want the letter to go to someone specific.

• Welcome Home Parade: The community is invited to go to the Evansville Airport and support these veterans with a huge welcome home parade.
