PERRY COUNTY – With a partial federal government shutdown in its fifth day Wednesday, some Perry County residents employed by Uncle Sam remain temporarily furloughed from their jobs or are working without pay until funding is restored.

Portions of the government closed Saturday due to a lapse in funding. Most federal workers were off Monday and Tuesday for the Christmas holiday. Thus, Wednesday was the first full day of the shutdown for many federal employees.
