FEB. 7 UPDATE - Body of woman found near Indian Lake identified

UPDATE, MONDAY, FEB. 7, 9 A.M.:  The body of a woman found Friday at Indian Lake has been identified as that of Ginger L. Schnepp, 38, of Owensboro, Ky.

Police said an autopsy was conducted Saturday morning and results will determine the cause of death. Sgt. Chad Dick, public-information officer for the Jasper Indiana State Police post, said no foul play is suspected.

Police said Schnepp had been reported missing earlier in the week and had last talked to her husband Wednesday night. Police said she had been hiking and possibly was going to camp at the recreation area.

ORIGINAL STORY, FRIDAY, FEB. 4: ST. CROIX – State police, sheriff’s department deputies, U.S. Forest Service law-enforcement officers and the county coroner’s office responded to Indian Lake Friday afternoon after the body of woman was found.

As of Friday evening, police had not released the name of the woman or indicated a possible cause of death. An autopsy was planned.  

Hoosier National Forest law-enforcement officer Donald Kidd discovered the body. Authorities said the woman’s vehicle was found parked near a cul-de-sac adjacent to a parking lot. The body was found several yards away.
