EVANSVILLE – The Tell City Marksmen baseball team matched up against Evansville Christian on the road on Tuesday losing 6-0.
“We played better defensively and on the mound. I also thought we ran the bases fairly well. However, it’s always hard to win games when you strikeout as a team 14 times,” said Tell City baseball coach Trent Benningfield.
For batting, Bren Miller led the Marksmen in batting going 2 for 3 at the plate.
Tell City had 5 total hits in the game to Evansville Christian’s 7 hits.
Ryan Morgan started off at the mound for the Marksmen, relieved by Ross Wilgus and Tretter Lyons.
Lyons recorded a strikeout in the game.
”We have to do a better job of putting the ball in play. The kid who threw against us was a good pitcher, so we have to give him some credit, but 14 Ks will not win many games.” Said Coach Benningfield. Today, the Marksmen baseball team will be home against Boonville at 5 p.m. (Perry County time).
