MOUNT PLEASANT – A FedEx employee died from injuries she sustained Monday after falling  from the passenger seat of a delivery truck.

State police said Joseph W. Englebrecht, 30, Evansville  was driving a 2000 International truck westbound toward Leopold when his passenger, Debra J. Harris, 54, of Velpen fell out of the vehicle. The two were delivering packages and had just made a delivery near Mount Pleasant when Harris fell from the vehicle as  it rounded a curve.

Police said Harris, who drove a delivery truck for FedEx for several years in Perry County, was riding unrestrained in the truck.

Harris was taken from the scene by ambulance to a medical helicopter and flown to Perry County Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Englebrecht was not injured and there was no damage to the vehicle, police said.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Chad Dick and Trooper Mark Lehmkuhler investigated  the accident, assisted by the Perry County Rescue Squad, Conservation Officer Levi Clark and the Perry County coroner’s office.
