Brooks places in Youth America Grand Prix

CHICAGO, Ill. – Olivia Brooks, 14, competed and placed in the top 12 of the Classical Junior Division of the Youth America Grand Prix Jan. 18, in Chicago, Ill.

Youth America Grand Prix is the world’s largest student ballet scholarship competition held annually around the world and is open to dance students of all nationalities 9 to 19 years old.
The 2011 documentary “First Position,” highlighted the competition as it followed six competitors to the finals in New York.
Brooks trains at Salt Creek Ballet in Westmont, Ill., under the artistic direction of Zhanna Dubrovskaya and Sergey Kozadayew.
She is the daughter of Aaron and Maria (Schaefer) Brooks of Clarendon Hills, Ill., and the granddaughter of Tom and Mary Jo Schaefer of Tell City.
