Beware skunks on wintertime travels

-A A +A

by Vince Luecke

I was driving in Spencer County a couple of weeks ago and two bouncing white tails just off the right shoulder of the road caught my eye. I looked for deer but what I saw romping toward a patch of small trees weren’t white-tailed deer, but two fat skunks.

I had likely interrupted an amorous moment for the pair of striped polecats and I immediately thought of the protests Pepe Le Pew from Loony Tunes fame would have been uttering in French-accented English after my headlights disturbed him and his girlfriend.
