A number of autumn activities are planned for the 2010 Perry County Hoosier Heritage Fall Tour. The annual celebration of fall will again draw visitors to communities across the county each weekend through mid-October.

Fall Tour Events

Rickenbaugh Open House Oct. 2

The historic stone home on Celina Lake will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 2, Sponsored by the Hoosier National Forest. For more information, call 547-7051.

Rome Courthouse Day Oct. 3

Visit the venerable Rome courthouse for a Sunday afternoon of live music, chicken dinners, crafts and other activities. Serving of meals begins at 11 a.m. For more information call 836-2544 or 836-2184.

Cannelton Heritage Festival Oct. 9

Organizers of Cannelton’s Heritage Festival will blend history with arts and crafts for a truly family celebration Oct. 9. Free activities for kids are planned along with horse-drawn wagon rides, pumpkin decorating, live music, wine garden and concessions. For more information call 549-5954.

Pipes & Chrome Bike Show

Returning this year to Cannelton the same day, Pipes & Chrome offers several entry classes for bikes. The event is sponsored by Agape Freedom Riders and Agape Community Church, located at 101 Taylor St. in Cannelton. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and continues to 1 p.m. Judging is at 2. Bristow Octoberfest Car Show Oct. 10

Each year, hundreds of classic vehicles set out for Bristow and thousands of visitors walk the rows of cars and trucks. This is the 21st year for the event.

In addition to music at the community center, there will be craft and food vendors and home-cooked dinners, ice cream, hamburgers, bratwurst, bean soup and refreshments. Children’s games will also be offered.

Perry County Route 66 Yard Sale Oct. 16

An event that grows each year, the Route 66 Yard Sale offers bargains along Indiana 66 from Troy through Tell City, Cannelton, Rocky Point, Rome, Derby, Dexter, Magnet and Oriole. In addition to shopping for bargains, residents are invited to set up sale booths along the route. Public sites will be announced soon. Shubael Little Pioneer Village Open House Oct. 16-17

The growing pioneer village with restored log cabins, bread oven and other attractions will dedicate new blacksmith shop and working forge. Chicken dinners will be available and bread baked in the 1800s stone oven can be sampled. For more information, call 547-7933.
