  • IHSAA needs two classes for...

The Eagle Classic cross country invitational at Brown County is generally considered the semistate preview.
Since that is the site where the semistate will also be held, most teams serious about trying to make a good showing in the semistate compete in the Eagle Classic.
Tell City and Perry Central have run in it for several years and this year Tell City’s boys team came home with a first-place trophy. So that means the Marksmen are the favorites to win the semistate, right?
    Not quite.

  • Marksmen improve to 6-1 in PAC

REO—Tell City lost only five total games as it beat South Spencer 5-0 in PAC boys tennis Thursday.
The Marksmen, 6-1 in the PAC and 8-2 in dual matches overall, can clinch at least a share of the PAC title if they beat Southridge at Tell City Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
South Spencer had only four boys on its team, so it forfeited the No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles matches.
The Marksmen dominated the two singles matches that were played. Jake Swihart defeated Kyle Market 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 and Zach Fisher beat Nick Sibrel by the same score in No. 2.

TELL CITY—Mount Vernon’s superior speed and depth wore Tell City down as the Wildcats won 6-0 in boys soccer Saturday.
The game was scoreless for 18 1/2 minutes, as Tell City goalie Whitaker Lyons made several nice saves.
“For a freshman, he’s definitely starting to fill that position pretty well,” said Tell City Coach Austin Fischer.
But then the Marksmen, with only one reserve, seemed to tire somewhat on defense and gave up three goals the rest of the first half.
