  • Foerster takes reins as Tell...

    TELL CITY—Just as in football, Tell City hired a Tell City graduate to coach its varsity soccer team Tuesday.
    But Don Foerster did not star in soccer at Tell City, as the Marksmen did not offer that sport when he graduated in 1967.
    He said he learned the game from watching his sons play it, beginning more than 20 years ago when Anthony played on a North Spencer spring youth team where his teammates included current pro football quarterback Jay Cutler.

  • Wilkerson helps South beat North

    INDIANAPOLIS—Perry Central graduate Mikey Wilkerson made an unassisted tackle and an assisted one to help the South beat the North 13-7 in the Grange Insurance Indiana All-Star Classic football game Friday.
    Wilkerson played linebacker for the South team.
    This was probably his last football game, as he does not plan to play college football.
    He led Perry Central to a sectional title last fall.

    TELL CITY—Tell City’s top 10 state ranking and first conference baseball title in 29 years apparently impressed college scouts.
    All four seniors from last spring’s Tell City team have signed or are close to signing with college teams.
    Pitcher Shane Weedman signed with Vincennes University before the season.

    OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Anjan Kashyab of Tell City played another tournament in Oklahoma City and won the Boys 16 Singles conducted by USTA-Missouri Valley Oklahoma Section and Oklahoma District.

  • SIRS Walk, Run, Roll results

    TELL CITY – Southern Indiana Resource Solutions has announced results of the first Summer Fest Walk, Run and Roll For Independence 1-mile and 5-kilometer races held July 2 in Tell City.

  • PC Youth Rookie League champs

    Canary Outdoor Equipment won Perry Central Youth League Baseball’s Rookie League tourney and was also crowned regular-season champs. (Click photo to enlarge.)

  • District champs

    Tell City’s 11- and 12-year-old All-Star team won the District 5 Cal Ripken title by winning four games in a tourney at Corydon.

    It has been almost a decade since this age group has won a district title. The team defeated Corydon 10-0 and Henryville 12-2 July 7-8 and won games against Corydon teams Saturday and Sunday. Players Eli Reed and Cody Aders each had two-run homers.

    Beginning today, they will play in Hope in state competition.

  • Hoosier Express slams Rockport 6...

    ROCKPORT – The Hoosier Express blasted three doubles, a triple and single to score four first-inning runs at Rockport Post 254 Saturday. The Express never trailed and went on to win 9-5 in American Legion baseball.

    Twenty-nine players from South Spencer, Heritage Hills, Tell City, Forest Park and Southridge played in the game.
