TELL CITY - Evan Rothgerber went 4 for 4 and drove in four runs as Tell City beat Cannelton 14-1 in baseball Monday.

Cody Pfeifer added three hits to Tell City's 16-hit attack and scored four runs.

Kyle Osborne and Eric Henrickson each had two hits and two RBIs and Ryan Zuelly drove in three runs.

Though the Marksmen averaged four hits per inning (they batted in only four innings before the game ended by the 10-run rule), in the first inning it looked as if it could be a close game.

CAMPBELLSBURG - Trailing 9-4, West Washington erupted for 12 runs in the fourth inning to beat Perry Central 16-12 in PLAC girls softball Wednesday.

The Senators had only four hits that inning but also took advantage of a hit batsman and five Perry Central errors that inning - most of them on throws.

"We just handed this one away," said Perry Central Coach Greg Gibson. "Our throwing mechanics have to get better.

"We're young and we got rattled, and for whatever reason we couldn't turn off the scoring."

Gibson noted the Commodores have improved on offense, though.

LEOPOLD - Sectional favorite Northeast Dubois won 10 of 16 events to beat Perry Central 95-69 in boys track Thursday.

Cannelton also competed and scored three points on T.J. James' 115-foot-2 second-place discus throw.

Nick Huber won three events for Perry Central.

He ran the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.91 seconds and the 300 intermediate hurdles in 39.15.

He cleared 6 feet, 4 inches to win the high jump.

He did not run the 1600 relay, as a calf muscle he strained earlier in the season "started hurting a little bit," said Perry Central Coach Jason Barnett.

TELL CITY - Gibson Southern pounded out 18 hits, including five doubles and a home run, to beat Tell City 10-1 in PAC girls softball Thursday.

The Titans scored in six of the seven innings as they hit the ball hard throughout their lineup.

"They hit the ball hard and they hit it where we weren't," said Tell City Coach Dusty Beard.

Christin Overton went 4 for 5 with five RBIs and Felicia Virden, their No. 8 hitter, drove in three runs with a single and a homer over the left-field fence.
