  • PC Youth Rookie League champs

    Canary Outdoor Equipment won Perry Central Youth League Baseball’s Rookie League tourney and was also crowned regular-season champs. (Click photo to enlarge.)

  • District champs

    Tell City’s 11- and 12-year-old All-Star team won the District 5 Cal Ripken title by winning four games in a tourney at Corydon.

    It has been almost a decade since this age group has won a district title. The team defeated Corydon 10-0 and Henryville 12-2 July 7-8 and won games against Corydon teams Saturday and Sunday. Players Eli Reed and Cody Aders each had two-run homers.

    Beginning today, they will play in Hope in state competition.

  • Hoosier Express slams Rockport 6...

    ROCKPORT – The Hoosier Express blasted three doubles, a triple and single to score four first-inning runs at Rockport Post 254 Saturday. The Express never trailed and went on to win 9-5 in American Legion baseball.

    Twenty-nine players from South Spencer, Heritage Hills, Tell City, Forest Park and Southridge played in the game.

  • Taylor helping Dragons set record

    DAYTON, OHIO—Clint Taylor, a 1997 Tell City graduate, played right field for the 1997 Marksman baseball team that set a school record with 21 victories.
    Now he could help the Dayton Dragons, a Class A minor league baseball team affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds, set another record.
    Taylor is the senior marketing manager for the Dragons and Mandalay Sports. He has been with the Dragons since 2004.

  • McDonald’s wins 10-12 tourney

    TELL CITY—Three pitchers combined to throw a three-hitter as McDonald’s beat Troy Clinic 13-7 to win Tell City’s age-10-12 girls softball playoff tourney last Thursday.

  • Beard powers Tell City past...

    LINCOLN CITY—Spenser Beard homered as Tell City beat Heritage Hills 7-5 in Diamond League baseball Tuesday.
      Tell City tied the score 2-2 with two runs in the third.
    Trent Zuelly reached base on a throwing error by the pitcher to start the inning. He advanced two bases on passed balls and scored on Rhett Baumeister’s sacrifice fly to deep right field.
    Drew Mowery and Ryan Dooley followed with singles and Mowery scored on a passed ball.
    Tell City took the lead for good with two more runs in the fourth.

    TELL CITY—Jordan Heck hit an RBI double in a three-run fourth inning that propelled Hoosier Express past Greene County 6-1 in American Legion baseball Saturday.

  • Seven-run 4th propels Hair...

    TELL CITY – Hair Razors hit three doubles in a seven-run fourth inning to beat Cash Waggner 9-4 to win Tell City’s age-13-16 girls softball playoff tourney Thursday.
    Katelyn Kaufman and Alli LaForce combined to pitch a three-hitter for Hair Razors.
    Cash Waggner took a 4-0 lead in the first three innings, though. It scored two runs in the second on two walks, an error, an infield hit by Jordyn Vogt, and an RBI grounder by Shannon Bryant.

  • Tell City to host girls tourneys

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Girls Softball League will sponsor a fastpitch tourney, the Ohio River Riot, July 9-10 at its complex on 19th Street.

    The tourney is for ages 8-and-under, 10-U, 12-U and 14-U. The 8-U and 10-U ages will be machine pitch. ASA fastpitch rules will apply for 12-U and 14-U and there will also be a live-pitch tourney for 10-U.
