TELL CITY – The Hoosier Heights Ladies will host an auction at 7 p.m. Dec. 5, at the Hoosier Heights Country Club. The auction will feature a live auction as well as a silent auction.

Traci Coyle will conduct the live auction. As part of the evening’s activities there will be a half-pot drawing and a cash raffle. A bake sale is part of the event.
A buffet dinner of fried chicken and roast beef will start at 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Anna Lou Howe of Evanston stopped by the News office recently to share some strange-shaped sweet potatoes that had grown in her garden. Some had different sized knobs on them, some were very large in size and others, like the duck-shaped one in the first picture, made interesting shapes.

Howe said the potatoes grew in her personal garden which she tended along with tomatoes and zuccinis. She said this was the first year she had grown sweet potatoes and got the start for this batch from her newphew.

The sixth grade students at Perry Central Elementary School got the privilege to see a K9 demonstration by Officer Michael Jackson and his dog, Eric, officer Derek Lawalin and his dog, Jago, and Officer Jason Shadwick.

BOSSIER CITY, La. – Patrick Little, a 2007 Tell City High School graduate, is currently serving in the United State Air Force. The son of John and Joane Little of Tell City, Little is as-signed to the 2nd Bomb Wing, located on Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. He is a cyber transport systems technician for the second communications squadron.

CANNELTON – Cannelton 175th-anniversary souvenirs are still available and would make great gifts this holiday, according to members of the Perry County Chamber of Commerce.
Souvenirs are available at Cannelton Utilities and the Perry County Chamber offices. Items for sale include a plate for $15; etched wine and beer glasses for $8 each or two for $15 (can mix and match); buttons for $1; “Cannelton Stories” DVD for $20 and a commemorative program book for $2.

TELL CITY – A birthday celebration for former Indiana Gov. Ed Whitcomb will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City.

TELL CITY – The Epsilon Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Inc. will present its 10th theater production Friday through Sunday at the Evangelical United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. The production “Sister Amnesia’s Country Western Nunsense Jamboree” is one in a series of “Nunsense” musicals written by Dan Goggin.  Tri Kappa previously presented “Nunsense,” “Nun-crackers,” and “Nunsense II: The Second Coming.”
