  • TELL CITY – The Tell City Regional Arts Association will host an open-mic poetry night Friday, Nov. 5 for all area poetry lovers.
    The event will be held at the Tell City Star Café, 413 Main Street in Tell City, beginning at 6 p.m.
    Poets are welcome to attend and read their own work, or attendees may also recite the work of others.
    Registration is not required, but is appreciated by calling 608-1305.
     

  • TELL CITY – The Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual Holiday Bazaar Raffle today.
    A handcrafted solid walnut blanket chest will be raffled off during a today drawing at the end of the bazaar at the hospital.
    The bazaar will also include many other handcrafted items and baked goods for sale.
    The gift shop will be open during the event with special sales.
    A luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria. Cost for the meal is $7.

  • TELL CITY – Goblins, Games and Goodies, an event sponsored by Perry County Junior Women, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds.
    Families are invited to take their children for a night of games, crafts, treats and even a haunted trail. There will also be “Witchy Story Time.” Popcorn, hot chocolate, hot cider and other snacks will be available for purchase. Snack proceeds will benefit the 4-H Council. Boy Scouts Troop 192 and Perry County 4-H Junior Leaders are sponsoring the haunted trail.

  • CANNELTON – The Cannelton Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization will sponsor its 65th annual Cannelton Fall Fest from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the city’s community center.
    Queen candidates for this year’s fest are kindergartner Kendall Hale, first grader Brooklyn Chenault, second-grader Mariah Rainbolt, third-grader Ashli Harlen, fourth-grader Sydnei Parrott, fifth-grader Chelsie Morrow and sixth-grader Star Bernardi.
    Cost for the event is 25 cents for those who are not in costume.

  • TELL CITY – Alan Kott will speak at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10 Perry County Memorial Hospital to share his personal experiences with diabetes and taking insulin to help control his blood sugar.
    Kott is a member of the sanofi-aventis A1C Champions Program, which is a patient led approach to diabetes education. He has diabetes and takes insulin as part of his overall diabetes treatment plan including diet, exercise and other diabetes medications.

  • TELL CITY – The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary will host an arts, crafts and vendor Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at the K of C, 11th and Tell streets.

  • TELL CITY – In celebration of Teen Read Week, Sunday through Oct. 23, the Tell City-Perry County Public Library will host two events for local teens.
    From 5 to 8 p.m. Monday there will be a “Game Night” where teens are invited to go to the library and play games on the Wii gaming system or play a variety of card and board games.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Perry County’s 4-H clubs are working on community-service projects and would like to have the public become involved, Extension Educator Re-nate Jobst said.
    “There are three projects that are ongoing and I am hopeful the community will want to pitch in,” Jobst said.

  • TELL CITY – Indiana Horse Rescue South will take rescued horses to Orscheln Farm Store from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. This fundraising event will be to help raise funds to feed the horses for the winter.
    The group will hold raffles, games, face painting and other events. Different kinds of foods will be available for purchase and a bake sale will also be set up.
    The event is for all ages. The horses will be present for everyone to see and understand the implications of animal abuse.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Alzheimer’s Association invites the public to join the annual Tri-County Memory Walk Saturday at Tell City Junior-Senior High School. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will start at 9.

  • FERDINAND – This weekend has been set aside for Primitive Days in Ferdinand and coupon sales will kick-off the weekend at six retail locations in town Friday through Sunday.
    The first performance of the Strolling Street Theatre’s “Spirits of Ferdinand” will close out the day Friday with an 8 p.m. performance. The original play by Dean Bolin captures the spirits of legendary people from Ferdinand’s past and is presented by the Ferdinand Merchants Association.
