  • TELL CITY – Hoosier Heights Country Club Ladies will have their annual Christmas auction Dec. 1.
    The live auction begins at 7 p.m. at the Hoosier Heights Country Club
    Guests may place their bids on items before that time. Baked goods will be available for purchase and a half-pot drawing will be held as well.
    The public is invited to attend a buffet to be held in the dining room beginning at 5 p.m.

  • TELL CITY – Planning a trip outside the country? Traveling to do mission work? Or perhaps a holiday vacation?
    The Tell City Post Office will accept passport applications Saturday, Nov. 20 during a passport fair being held to assist people whose hectic schedules make it difficult to complete this task during the week.

  • Tell City Junior-Senior High School Key Club hosted a Hat Day to raise funds for Indiana Horse Rescue South. Students and staff paid a $1 donation to wear a hat. The club raised $63. Alexis Braun, Key Club member, and Amy Hollinden, Key Club sponsor, are pictured, center, presenting the donation to Ethan Shinault and Pat and Mikayla Reed.
     

  • TELL CITY – Catholic Charities in Tell City will host an information session on Medicare Part D coverage from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the Catholic Charities office, 802 Ninth Street.
    An options counselor from SWIRCA & More will be available to answer questions and assist those needing help to choose a Part D plan for their Medicare coverage. This is not a sales presentation.
    Plan costs and coverage change each year, so all people with Medicare should check to make sure their plan still meets their needs and budget.

  • TELL CITY – Mu Gamma will hold a Christmas auction Tuesday at the Evangelical United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 802 10th St., Tell City.
    Doors open at 6 p.m. and the auction begins at 6:30. Items will include holiday crafts and baked goods.
    Refreshments will be served.
    Those attending will also be able to taste and order Christmas Old English and holiday cheeseballs.
     

  • TELL CITY – Now that Halloween has passed, The News staff has again been asked to gather letters to Santa Claus. Good boys and girls can send their letters for publication in our annual Holiday Greetings section, to be published this year Dec. 23 — just in time for Santa to read them as he’s checking what’s in his sleigh.
    Letters can be addressed in care of The News and mailed to P.O. Box 309, Tell City, IN 47586.
    Letters can also be dropped off at The News’ office at 537 Main St. or sent via e-mail to editor@perrycounty news.com.

  • TELL CITY – The Tell City Beautification Committee will host a chili cook-off Sunday, Nov. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. on Main Street in conjunction with the Tell City Christmas parade.
    Participating businesses are asked to cook their best pots of chili and serve the public as they stroll Main Street during “A Christmas Celebration.”
    The cost of each station is $10. The money will go toward expenses for prizes and awards given to participating merchants.

    Mu Gamma to meet today
    TELL CITY – Mu Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 6 p.m. today at Carolyn Craddock’s home.
    The membership committee will be hostesses for ritual tea for some members.

  • TELL CITY – The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary will host an arts, crafts and vendor Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at the K of C, 11th and Tell streets.
    Items on display will include homemade baked goods, Christmas wreaths, Mia Bella gourmet candles, lighted wine bottles and glass blocks, Tastefully Simple items, Tupperware, Party Lite items, Lia Sophia jewelry, Tole painting, Avon products, yard stakes, Mary Kay products, Thirty One purses, Rada Cutlery, Loupies scarves and handmade and copper jewelry.

  • TROY – The Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will host its annual recognition event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19 at the Fulton Hill Community Center in Troy. The event is held to honor the Perry County RSVP volunteers who contribute many hours for the betterment of the community.
    The event will feature food and prizes. All RSVP volunteers and volunteer station representatives are invited to attend.

  • TELL CITY - The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon cutting for Electric Sun at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12 to celebrate their new business. An open house will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Ryan and Paige Werner are the owners of Electric Sun, located at 114 E. Indiana 66, in Tell City (near the movie theater). Electric Sun has tanning beds, a spray-tanning booth and tanning lotions and products. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Paige Werner serves as store manager.

  • ST. MEINRAD – A benefit event for David VanHoosier will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at the St. Meinrad Community Center. Chili, hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled-pork sandwiches, chips, desserts and drinks will be served. A raffle will be held at 6 p.m. Tickets will be sold in advance and the day of the benefit. Winners need not be present to win.
