    PCMH Auxiliary to meet Friday
    TELL CITY – The Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board will meet at noon Friday, Dec. 3 at the Patio Steakhouse.

  • SANTA CLAUS – The neighbors of Christmas Lake Village in Santa Claus will celebrate the 26th annual Festival of Lights from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 11 and 18.
    The public is invited to celebrate Christmas at the festival. Admission is free but cash or canned food donations for local charitable organizations will be accepted.
    There will be more than eight tour miles, thousands of lights and decorations, animated displays and a live nativity.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Larry K. Kleeman, executive director of Lincoln Hills Development Corp., announced that funds available for heating assistance for residents of Crawford, Perry and Spencer counties are nearly depleted and a waiting list has been started for the Energy Assistance Program.
    LHDC administers the heating assistance program in the three-county area and to date more than 1,300 households have been served.

    Substance abuse committee to meet
    TELL CITY – The Perry County Substance Abuse Committee board of directors will meet at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ.

  • TELL CITY – Epsilon Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa is selling prints of historic landmarks in Tell City and Perry County.
    Most were drawn by offenders in the Purposeful Living Unites Serve program at Branchville Correctional Facility.

  • TELL CITY – The Daughters of Isabella are selling raffle tickets for various prizes. There will be 28 prizes in the raffle, including a quilt and Holiday World tickets.
    Cost of tickets is $1 each or six for $5.
    Tickets may be purchased from any D of I member or by calling Dona Sweeney at 547-4794.
    Drawings will be held Dec. 7 at the D of I Christmas party.

  • TELL CITY – The Perry County Junior Women will host the Sweets, Treats and Santa Holiday event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Schergens Center. The cost is $3 per child and $2 for adults who wish to eat with their children. Lunch will be served and children can make crafts and also visit with Santa Claus.
    Danny Bolin will take photographs. There will be gift bags given to the first 100 children.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Area Girl Scouts are readying to take cookie orders from Jan. 1 through Jan. 23.
    This year’s sale will offer eight varieties of cookies: Thin Mints, Shortbreads, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Peanut Butter Patties, Caramel deLites, Thanks-a-Lots, Lemonades and a new Belgian-style cookie called Shout Outs.
    A change this year will be a new “soft” packaging for the Thanks-a-Lots cookies, which, according to cookie suppliers ABC Interbake, eliminates more than 150 tons of paperboard from the waste stream.

  • TELL CITY – The Tell City Beautification Committee will host a chili cook-off Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. on Main Street in conjunction with the Tell City Christmas parade.
    Participating businesses are asked to cook their best pots of chili and serve the public as they stroll Main Street during “A Christmas Celebration.”
    The cost of each station is $10. The money will go to-ward expenses for prizes and awards given to participating merchants.

  • TELL CITY – Hoosier Heights Country Club Ladies will have their annual Christmas auction Dec. 1.
    The live auction begins at 7 p.m. at the Hoosier Heights Country Club
    Guests may place their bids on items before that time. Baked goods will be available for purchase and a half-pot drawing will be held as well.
    The public is invited to attend a buffet to be held in the dining room beginning at 5 p.m.

    The Tell City Post Office will accept passport applications Saturday, Nov. 20 during a passport fair being held to assist people whose hectic schedules make it difficult to complete this task during the week.
