  • GRANDVIEW – The Garden Club of Grandview recently received a monetary donation from Waupaca Foundry, Tell City plant, for its current community project.
    The garden club is sponsoring a new park for the children of their community. The park will use town property that is unusable for residence. It will be located on the northeast side of Grandview, where there are currently no play areas.

  • Rome Masonic Lodge recently recognized Brother Charles Skinner, left, for marking 50 years of membership in Masonry. Charles Skinner accepted an Award of Gold Certificate from Gale Garner, secretary of the lodge.

  • CANNELTON – A meeting is scheduled for the Cannelton Republican Party at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30.
    The meeting will be held at the Perry County Republican Headquarters in Tell City. Anyone interested in supporting or participating in the 2011 election is encouraged to attend.
     

  • SANTA CLAUS – Local auditions for Holiday World’s 2011 cast of entertainers are scheduled for later this month at the park’s Holiday Theater. The 2011 musical entertainment lineup at Holiday World will include the following:
    • Real Country: Latest hits along with country classics.
    • Rejoice!: Contemporary Christian music with worship music and Christian hits.
    • Vinyl Daze: A pop musical featuring favorites from throughout the years.

  • TELL CITY – A benefit for Kathy Tsantis is planned for Jan. 15 at the Tell City Knights of Columbus. Food will be available at 6 p.m. with an open cash bar. Music will be provide by Bob and Tom from 9 p.m. to midnight.
    A live auction is planned with Hawhee’s Auc-tion Service on hand to sell items. Proceeds will go toward Tsantis’ medical bills. She is a retired Tell City Police Department dispatcher.
    Tickets are $15 per couple or $10 for singles.

  • Perry County Girl Scouts, pictured above, spent the day Nov. 21 bowling at Tell City Bowling Center.
     

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Community Foundation will host a trivia night Jan. 29 at the Schergens Center in Tell City.
    Teams, with a maximum number of eight players, will compete in a night of fun to see who knows more about various trivia topics. The registration fee for each team is $200.
    Teams are encouraged to show their team spirit by taking their own decorations and decorating their tables in whatever theme they choose.

  • TELL CITY – Due to inclement weather, Tell City American Legion Auxiliary Unit 213 canceled their annual Christmas party last month. The party has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the post in Tell City.
    Those attending are asked to take finger foods for the party.
    There will be a $5 gift exchange for those wishing to participate. Members are asked to also take nonperishable food items to be distributed locally.
    Brenda Powers, president, encourages all members to attend for an evening of fun and fellowship.

  • TELL CITY – The Tell City Regional Arts Association is in the process of creating an artist guild.
    To become a member of the guild, an artist must submit to a three-person panel five pieces in the field in which they wish to exhibit.
    Artists that are certified Indiana Artisan or Kentucky Crafted member will automatically be admitted to the artist guild at the Featured Artist Level.
    The artist guild levels are categorized below. Items followed by asterisks denote fields required for that level.

  • Kelli Sue Harding and Brad Mace of Lebanon were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon.

    The bride is the daughter of Dan and Pam Harding of Derby. Mr. Mace is the son of Randy and Linda Mace of Lebanon.
    The bride was given away in marriage by her father in marriage during the ceremony officiated by the Rev. Tim Kroeger.
    Cheri Harding Harpenau of Boonville and Vicki Harding Queck of Indianapolis, sisters of the bride, were chosen as matrons of honor.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce is in the process of establishing the 2011 Perry County Community Calendar.
    The chamber is asking all organizations for dates of events that are planned for the 2011 calendar year. Printed calendars will be available in area bank lobbies and the events will also appear on the Chamber’s Web site www. perrycountychamber.com.

  • ST. MEINRAD – The Sesquicentennial Committee is selling various items to raise funds for the towns’ anniversary event this summer.
    The newest items for sale are sweatshirts and T-shirts with the sesquicentennial logo.
    Child sweatshirts with no hood are available in sizes small through extra large for $15. Adult hooded sweatshirts, size small through extra large are $25 and XXL hooded sweatshirts are $30. Blue adult sweatshirts with no hoods are available in sizes medium through XXL for $20 each.

  • FERDINAND – If you live in Crawford, Dubois, Perry or Spencer counties, the Town of Ferdinand wants you to take a survey.
    The Town of Ferdinand is releasing a brief Educational Needs Survey for Crawford, Dubois, Perry and Spencer counties residents.
    The survey is available on the town’s Web site, and is designed to determine the community’s interest in having an Ivy Tech Community College Instructional Center in Ferdinand.
