  • TELL CITY – The Tell City-Perry County Public Library is celebrating National Children’s Book Week, Monday through Saturday, May 7. National Children’s Book Week is a special opportunity for libraries all across the country to promote the joy of reading to kids.

  • TELL CITY – A yard sale and bake sale will be held Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at American Legion Post 213 in Tell City.
    The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor the sales. Proceeds are to be used locally to benefit veterans.
    Anyone wishing to donate items may bring them to the American Legion Post 213 during the regular business hours on or before Thursday.

  • FULDA – The Fulda Sportsman Club will host its second annual craft show at the club Saturday, May 21 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
    New events this year will be a car show and cornhole tournament. Registration for the car show will be from 7 a.m. until noon with prizes to be awarded in various classes. Other entertainment will be a Kiddie Tractor pull beginning at 11 a.m.
    Breakfast, barbecued chicken and pork-chop dinners, burgers and drinks will be available throughout the day.

  • Cannelton Booster Club to meet today at Lawson’s
    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Booster Club will hold an information meeting for all members at 3:30 p.m. today.
    The meeting will be at Lawson’s Bar & Grill in the family dining room.

  • Maurices to hold bake sale
    TELL CITY – The Maurices Relay for Life team will hold a bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the store in Tell City.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The annual medicine cabinet clean out day has been set for April 30 from 8 a.m. to noon throughout Perry County.
    The two locations for drop outs will be at the Tell City Fire Department in Tell City and the Perry County Family Practice in Leopold.

  • TELL CITY – The annual Farm Toy Show and Farm Scene Display contest, sponsored by the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds Committee, will be held Saturday at the fairgrounds. The event will be held inconjuction with an annual consignment auction. All money raised will benefit the 4H fairgrounds.
    Doors will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is $1 per person; children 6 years old and under get in for free .Winners of a farm scene-contest will be announced at 2 p.m. the day of the show.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Junior Women will host a Craft Night for anyone interested in finding out more about the group, said membership recruitment chair Renate Jobst.
    The craft night will be 7 p.m. Monday, April 25, in the Fifth Third Bank meeting room. Light refreshments will be served. Membership is open to anyone but voting rights are limited to persons between the ages of 18 and 40.

  • TELL CITY – The fourth annual Charlie Tuggle Poker Run is set for April 30 with Braunie’s Bar in Tell City hosting the event.
    All bikes are due out by 11 a.m. and are due in by 4:30 p.m. All vehicles are welcome. Entry is $10 per hand or $15 per double. There will be door prizes, half pot and food.
    All proceeds go to Schreiber Family Charities and Shriners Childrens Hospital.

  • Sydney Goffinet of Branchville served as a page for Sen. Richard Young March 29.

    Goffinet, 14 met Young, and gained a firsthand look at how the legislative process works during her time at the Statehouse. Students ages 12-18 are eligible to serve for one day assisting with various legislative activities including running errands within the Statehouse, delivering messages and helping with a variety of other tasks.
     

  • FERDINAND – The annual Ferdinand Herb and Garden Days will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday with various activities throughout the days.
    Shops throughout town will have herbs, perennials, hanging baskets, annuals, ferns, landscape and bedding plants, primitives, antiques, home and garden décor, patio, gardening seminars, arts and crafts markets and food available.

  • LEOPOLD – Jon Suhrheinrich and Andy Connor of Boy Scout Troop 191 received their Eagle Scout awards Sunday March 27, at the St. Augustine Church in Leopold.

    Suhrheinrich is the son of Brian and Kathy Suhrheinrich of St Croix. Connor is the son of Rick and Arleela Connor of Leopold.
    Connor’s Eagle Scout leadership project was to erect a flagpole and perform landscaping and maintenance at the Leopold Park.

  • Students of North Perry Head Start visited Oakwood Health Campus April 7 to perform plays and sing songs for residents. Children acted out well-known stories about a farmer and the turnip, the three little pigs and the big bad wolf and the three billy goats gruff. After their performances, students visited with residents and shared punch and cookies.

  • Special-needs group to meet today
    TELL CITY – The Tri County Special Needs Support Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. today at the Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City in Conference Room C.

    Humane society meeting Tuesday
    TELL CITY – The Humane Society of Perry County will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
    The meeting will take place at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City.
