When ISTEP tests roll around, students, teachers and parents should be focused on applying classroom learning to the test, not worrying if the testing system itself will work.

That wasn’t the case across many areas of the state, including Perry County, late last month. On April 29, Hoosier students taking the online multiple-choice portion of the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus exam experienced frozen screens and in many cases, an inability to finish the test.

DUBOIS COUNTY – Construction will soon begin at a busy intersection in Dubois County. The Indiana Department of Transportation recently awarded a contract to improve the intersection of Indiana 64 and Indiana 162 in Bretzville.
Lutgring Brothers Inc. of Tell City was the low bidder on the $1 million contract, which adds dedicated left turn lanes for north- and south-bound traffic on Indiana 162 as well as a traffic signal.

TELL CITY – Haley Ward is a recipient of a 2013 Moose International R. Robert Dale Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Ward will graduate from Tell City Junior-Senior High School May 24.

An R. Robert Dale Scholarship winners must be the child or grandchild of – or under legal guardianship of – a member of the Moose fraternal organization and must carry at least a 2.5 accumulated grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

JASPER—Perry Central set three school records, tied another, and set personal records and/or exceeded seeds in most events to repeat as boys track sectional champions Thursday.
Based on seeds, Forest Park was favored by 10 points over Perry Central. But the Commodores won with 140.5 points. 4.5 more than the runner-up Rangers.
Tell City placed third with 98.5 and Cannelton, with just three boys competing, was 11th with one point.
