Blue Bridge prep work near its end

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Prep work for painting the KY 2262 Ohio River “Blue Bridge” in downtown Owensboro, Ky., continues with overnight closures of the bridge. 

Wrestling fundraiser Saturday

LEOPOLD – A TSW wrestling event fundraiser will be held Saturday at Perry Central High School. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and bell time will be at 7 p.m.

Annual Drug, Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest end Friday

PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County prosecutor’s office announces the annual poster contest open to all Perry County students in kindergarten through seventh grades begins Wednesday and ends Friday. Letters have been sent to Tell City, Perry Central and Cannelton schools with the official rules to begin the contest. The office staff have asked schools to choose the four best pos-ters from each grade level and submit them to the prosecutor’s office for judging.

Raiders edge Tell City

TELL CITY—Southridge scored a run in the seventh inning to edge Tell City 5-4 in a battle of PAC baseball leaders Thursday.
Tell City built a 4-1 lead with four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Gant Miller started that rally with a double.
Trent Rainey, Spenser Beard and Brian Arnold each drove in a run that inning, with the other one scoring on an error.
Two 30-minute lightning delays took away some of the Marksmen’s momentum.

Moose International local scholarship winner announced

TELL CITY – Haley Ward is a recipient of a 2013 Moose International R. Robert Dale Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Ward will graduate from Tell City Junior-Senior High School May 24.

An R. Robert Dale Scholarship winners must be the child or grandchild of – or under legal guardianship of – a member of the Moose fraternal organization and must carry at least a 2.5 accumulated grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

2012 cemetery fund for Foster Ridge released

UNIONTOWN — The 2012 Foster Ridge Cemetery  fund report has been released.
People contributing to the cemetery fund during 2012 were:

Annual May Monte Cassino pilgrimages continues Sunday in St. Meinrad

ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May. The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. \Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:
• Sunday – Novice Matthew Sprauer OSB, “Mary, Model of Hospitality”
• May 26 – Novice Bradley Jensen OSB, “Mary, Full of Grace”

Tell City defeats Perry Central

TELL CITY—Tell City took better advantage of its opponents’ defensive mistakes to beat Perry Central 9-4 in baseball Monday.
Tell City’s Chris Schaefer and Perry Central’s Anthony Mosby gave strong pitching performances, but there weren’t many other outstanding features in the game.
Neither team hit the ball really hard, with neither getting an extra-base hit. Five of Tell City’s 10 hits and three of Perry Central’s four were infield hits.
