St. Paul annual summer picnic set for Sunday

TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host an annual summer picnic Sunday in City Hall Park, 700 Main St.
The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with grilled-chick-en and roast-beef dinners served in the parish hall, 824 Jefferson St. Takeouts will be available. Price is $8 for adults and $5 for children 8 years and younger.

Games and food will be offered in the park across from the church beginning at 11 a.m.

Kieser earns dean’s list spot
TELL CITY – Natasha Kieser was named to the fall 2012 and spring 2013 dean’s lists for Ivy Tech College.
She is majoring in early childhood development and is expected to graduate in May 2014.
Kieser is the daughter of Kenny and Susie Kieser and resides in Derby.

LEOPOLD — Perry Central Elementary school announces the following students were named to the school’s honor roll for the fourth nine-week grading period:

10-run inning propels Cash Waggner past Legacy

TELL CITY—A 10-run second inning carried Cash Waggner & Associates past Legacy Financial 13-5 in a battle of undefeated age-13-16 Tell City Girls Softball League teams Monday.
Leading 1-0 entering the bottom of the second, Cash Waggner sent 16 batters to the plate that inning.
Four got hits, five walked, and five reached base on outfield errors.
Brittany Brumfield started the inning with a booming double to deep left-center field and later reached base on an error by the left fielder as she scored twice in the inning.

Panthers finish with 29 wins

TELL CITY—The Tell City Panthers compiled a .371 team batting average to end their junior high girls softball season with a 29-6-1 record.
Coach Maggie Schuetter said she is very proud of the effort the girls displayed this year, beginning with preseason workouts and continuing through the 36-game season.
