INDOT awards contract for work at Bretzville junction in Dubois County

DUBOIS COUNTY – Construction will soon begin at a busy intersection in Dubois County. The Indiana Department of Transportation recently awarded a contract to improve the intersection of Indiana 64 and Indiana 162 in Bretzville.
Lutgring Brothers Inc. of Tell City was the low bidder on the $1 million contract, which adds dedicated left turn lanes for north- and south-bound traffic on Indiana 162 as well as a traffic signal.

GlennWood Hills Campground honored

Due to incorrect information provided to the News, the name of one of the scholarships Cannelton graduate Allicyn Louise Garrett earned was listed incorrectly. She was a recipient of the Loren and Bernice Lanman Scholarship.

COLUMN: Keep an eye out for turtles

If only the driver had seen the turtle sooner. I was driving to Rockport last week when I saw a car crush and kill a box turtle. I saw the passenger reach over and thump the driver in the head, not violently, but certainly in protest to what had happened.

No TC players make All-PAC

FERDINAND—No Tell City players were named to the All-PAC girls softball team elected by conference coaches Sunday.
Tell City senior first baseman-shortstop-pitcher McKenzie Hayes was the highest vote-getter among those receiving honorable mention as a utility player on the team.
Had she made the team, she would have joined Krista Blunk as the only Tell City girl to make all-conference in three sports in one school year.

Tell City Police Department Officer Derrick Lawalin and his dog Jago demonstrated their K9 skills recently for the sixth-grade students at William Tell Elementary.

Cannelton’s annual ACES walk

Preschool through fifth-grade students and staff took their annual All Children Exercising Simultaneously Walk recently. Everyone took a walk around town and also utilized the new Cannelton Greenway.
