Jerden – Burris

Dr. and Mrs. Eric Burris of Tell City announce the engagement of their son, Adam Burris, to Leah Jerden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Jerden of Bloomington.

The bride-elect and Mr. Burris are graduates of Indiana University. Mr. Burris is employed with PeopleMatter as an account executive.
The bride-elect is a communications assistant for Kiawah Island Community Association.
An October wedding in Charleston, S.C., is planned.

Bristow Christian welcomes new minister, deacon

Bristow Christian Church’s congregation welcomed Brother Bill Grieser to the church May 5. Brother Jack Wilson of Anderson Valley Christian Church ordained him.

Church member Garry Brown was also ordained as a deacon during the Sunday church services. Along with Wilson, Brother Al Madden was in charge of the services. Church elders Wayne Sturgeon and Clarence VanWinkle also assisted. Members celebrated with a dinner following worship.

Mullis – Schaeffer

Aundrea Marie Mullis of Santa Claus and Eric Robert Schaeffer of Birdseye announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Darrell and Marlene Mullis of Santa Claus. She is a 2010 graduate of Heritage Hills High School and a 2010 graduate of Southern Indiana School of Therapeutic Touch.
She works at the Wellness Center in Huntingburg.
Mr. Schaeffer is the son of Jeff and Ann Schaeffer of Birdseye. He is a 2006 graduate of Perry Central High School. He works at Mullis Custom Homes in Santa Claus.

Depot dedicated

A crowd of more than 150 attended Friday afternoon’s dedication of the Tell City Depot. Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann was the guest of honor. Citing the partnerships that allowed the city to obtain funding for the building, Ellspermann said she was proud of not only the state’s role but was “personally proud” of the effort. Recognized during the ceremony were Ruth Anne and the late Ralph “Nubby” Werner. 

Dupont – Kempf

Breanna Dupont and Jeremy Kempf were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy.

The bride is the daughter of Frank and Rebecca Dupont of Tell City. Mr. Kempf is the son of Michael and Joanie Howland of Tell City and the late Allen Kempf.
The bride was given in marriage by her father in the double-ring ceremony officiated by the Rev. Sengole Thomas.

COLUMN: Tossing a lifeline to those in need

A story was brought to my attention recently, and I want to do everything in my power to make sure that this does not happen in Indiana. A few weeks ago, a student at Arizona State University was put in a wheelchair and left in the emergency room lobby with nothing but a post-it note saying “I’ve been drinking, and I need some help.”

A fun time fishin’ at German Ridge Pond

The Tell City District hosted the 18th annual Kids Fishing Derby at German Ridge Pond May 18. This year’s event drew in 51 kids from the area and featured a big fish contest, most fish caught contest, and a casting contest in each of the four age groups. The kids caught a total of 150 bluegill, redear, largemouth bass and rainbow trout.
