LaGrange to play two sports at Oakland City

LINCOLN CITY—Heritage Hills’ Kaebra LaGrange will get the rare opportunity to play two sports collegiately after signing last month to play volleyball and basketball for Oakland City University.

LaGrange, a four-year starter and two-time All-PAC selection on the Patriot volleyball team, said, “I always thought I would just play volleyball.” But she jumped at the chance to participate in both sports when it was presented to her.

Waninger shoots 93 in regional

HENRYVILLE—Tell City sophomore Mason Waninger shot a 93 in the IHSAA boys golf regional at Champions Pointe course Thursday.
“Obviously he wasn’t real happy with his score, but he didn't play all that bad,” said Tell City Coach Keith Feldpausch. “He hit the ball well most of the day, but he had a few bad holes that hurt him.
“This regional had a really strong field and it was a good experience for him. I expect him to be back there the next two years and possibly advance farther with the way he has improved his game and I’m sure will continue to improve.

Yoga class at library

TELL CITY – The Perry County Pubic Library – Tell City branch will conduct a yoga class hosted by Breanne Walsh of Everbody’s Fun and Fitness. The class will be at 1 p.m. June 29 at the library.
Walsh will teach basic yoga posture and breathing techniques, which can increase strength and flexibility as well as reducing stress levels.
The class is suited for all levels and chairs will be provided for those unable to stand.
Attendance is limited to 15. Registrations can be taken at the Tell City branch or by calling 547-2661.

TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will host a 100th birthday party for Doretha Horlander at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Transitional Care Dining Area. The community is invited to attend or send her a card to help celebrate the occasion.

Cannelton leaders schedule hearing

CANNELTON – Cannelton city leaders have rescheduled their regular monthly meetings to June 17 to coincide with a public hearing on downtown-revitalization plan.

The city’s board of public works and safety usually meets at 6 p.m. and the common council at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month. Their meetings for June will be next Monday, with the hearing beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Local student named to deans’ honor roll at Fort Hays State

HAYS, Kan. – Izetta Dawn Davis-Roper was among the 1,096 students named to the deans’ honor roll by the deans of Fort Hays State University in Hays for the spring 2013 semester.
The list includes undergraduate students only. To be eligible, students must have enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a minimum grade-point average of 3.60 for the semester.
Full-time on-campus and virtual students are eligible. Davis-Roper is a senior majoring in general studies-general business.
