Due to incorrect information provided to the News, the name of one of the scholarships Cannelton graduate Allicyn Louise Garrett earned was listed incorrectly. She was a recipient of the Loren and Bernice Lanman Scholarship.

SALEM – Nine individuals from John Jones Auto Group have earned the distinction of excellence in the GM Mark of Excellence Program.

To become a Mark of Excellence recipient, a person must exemplify a high degree of dedication toward exceeding Customer Satisfaction expectations and meeting training requirements, while also increasing retail sales, labor and parts sales.

PERRY COUNTY – Lincoln Hills Development Corp.’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is presenting a Mackinac Island trip in Michigan through Toby Tours.
During the four-day, three-night trip, guests will take a horse-drawn carriage tour of Mackinac Island, have a grand buffet lunch tat Grand Hotel and have free time to enjoy the Grand’s porch view or meander through town for some shopping and sight seeing.

SPENCER COUNTY – River Sweep 2013 has been scheduled for June 15 along the shoreline of the Ohio River and its many tributaries. Volunteers are needed for this massive event.
River Sweep is a riverbank cleanup that extends the entire length of the Ohio River and beyond. More than 3,000 miles of shoreline will be combed for trash and debris. This is the largest environmental event of its kind and encompasses six states.
