SPENCER COUNTY – River Sweep 2013 has been scheduled for June 15 along the shoreline of the Ohio River and its many tributaries. Volunteers are needed for this massive event.
River Sweep is a riverbank cleanup that extends the entire length of the Ohio River and beyond. More than 3,000 miles of shoreline will be combed for trash and debris. This is the largest environmental event of its kind and encompasses six states.

EVANSVILLE—Perry Central senior Cathryn Peter placed third in the 3200-meter run at the girls track regional Tuesday to qualify for the state meet.
Peter set a personal record as she ran the 3200 in 11:46.93, just two seconds from Rachael Rayford’s school record.
The top eight in each event scored but only the top three qualified for the state meet, which will be held 2 p.m. June 1 at Indiana University’s track. The 3200 will start at 7:15 p.m.
Peter, Megan Thomas, Grace James and Marie Schwartz placed fourth in the 3200 relay in 10:13.24.

TELL CITY – The Tell City Water Department is sending out its annual consumer-confidence reports this week, said Superintendent Dale Poole.
The report is mandated by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and must be sent each year to water customers.
It informs customers of the quality and status of the water.
Customers who don’t receive a copy may pick one up at the water department office in City Hall.
