TELL CITY — Tell City’s baseball team on Monday played their first game of the season. After seven innings, the Marksmen and Hancock County each scored three runs, which led to extra innings. Tell City could not add any more runs, and the Hornets scored two in the top of the ninth inning to win 5-3.
Hancock County, the visiting team on the scoreboard, started the game by getting a 1-0 lead through the first inning. Dec Lewko hit a single, and a pitch hit Jack Roberts. Louden Fluharty, the third hitter for Hancock County in this inning, hit a single to load the bases. After Drew Greulich of Tell City struck out Jordan Payne, Brock Tindle hit a sacrifice fly to score Lewko.
