Student athletes getting chance to learn about umpiring and officiating

TELL CITY — Tell City Junior Senior High School on Friday, April 12, hosted Kristopher Loving of Save Our Sports with the hope that umpiring and officiating can grow in Perry County.

Tell City Junior Senior High School has been given a grant by the IHSAA with the focus of having students take sports officiating classes. Furthermore, the Edwin C. Tretter Foundation gave the school a donation for students to take their provisional licensing exam for the courses without any cost. These classes are taken through Ref Reps to increase officials in Perry County according to the Tell City Junior Senior High School Director of Counseling, Lisa Noble. The classes are offered in addition to their regularly scheduled classes.
