PERRY COUNTY — Perry County Clerk Rachel Roark was busy at the 8 a.m. hour on Wednesday morning, Jan. 10, as several candidates for the upcoming elections in Perry County came to submit their filing papers. These candidates were certainly familiar with the 2024 Indiana Candidate Guide which is a 145 page document that defines the process each prospective office holder must follow in order to be placed on the ballot. Page 18 of that Guide, published by the Indiana Election Division, specifies the key candidate filing dates for 2024. The first entry under that category is Jan. 10, 2024. That is the first day of candidate filing.

As of Jan. 11, seven individuals have submitted their filings. The ballot names of those individuals, listed alphabetically, include Jim Adams, Republican candidate for Perry County Commissioner District 1, Randy Cole, Republican candidate for Perry County Commissioner District 1, Pam Jamniczky, Republican candidate for Perry County Commissioner District 3, David A. Etienne, Republican candidate for Perry County Council-At-Large, Gale S. Garner, Republican candidate for Perry County Council-At-Large, Theresa E. (Tracy) Schroeder, Democratic candidate for Perry County Recorder, and Stephen R. Bartels, Republican candidate for State Representative, District 074.
