The Tell City High School Renaissance Leadership Class hosted its Celebrity Dinner and Silent Auction Feb. 23.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to help us as make our event such a success.

Bill Flamion was recently honored with a regional volunteer award by the Hoosier National Forest. Bill took the initiative to assist the Tell City Ranger District maintain the Saddle Lake Campground. He liked to camp there and knew that the district lost the prison crew that used to do all summer maintenance.

The district did not have enough personnel to keep up with all the maintenance throughout the year including mowing, trimming, cleaning out grills and campsites and cleaning the restrooms.

I was reading the March 4 issue of the Perry County News and saw the comment in the story that when Waupaca first came to town, the first 500 employees were easy to find. Then they claimed that they struggled to find people to fill jobs.

I say bull crap! I think there are plenty of people who can do the job and are perfectly willing but Waupaca only wants to hire through temporary services. How can people not be good enough to work a full-time job with full benefits and full pay but are good enough to work the same job under temporary conditions for less pay?

To everyone concerned with animal issues in Perry County Feb. 22, citizens of Perry County met with state Sen. Richard Young and state Rep. Lloyd Arnold. Many issues were discussed, but one that was brought up was pending legislation – Senate Joint Resolution 7 – concerning the rights to hunt, fish and crow crops.
