After reading Mr. Robinson’s articles and his concerns about his obvious confusion concerning the proposed animal ordinance, the Humane Society needs to clear up some misconceptions.

The first and foremost misconception that Mr. Robinson has is his lack of understanding of why the commissioners agreed to have a committee form in the first place.

Presidential candidate Ron Paul is a man of his word. Throughout his more than 30-year congressional career, he has maintained a consistent pro-American voting record and has introduced countless bills which, if not for party politics, would have greatly improved the condition of the United States.

His constitutional mindset has earned him an enormous grassroots following, as millions upon millions of Americans yearn for a return to a traditionally limited and responsible government.

Every now and then something great happens in Hollywood. An interesting director makes enough great films overseas and he’s given a modest budget and a little star power and he gets to make whatever he wants out of a film. And then that film ends up playing on the big screen in an area as small as Perry County. I sat back unbelieving Sunday night as I watched Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest film, “Drive” and witnessed one of the best films of the year … and I didn’t have to drive an hour to see it.

Visiting my parents late last week, I caught an unmistakable smell of fall – recently harvested corn.

If freshly mowed grass is a harbinger of spring, combines at work prove it’s autumn.

My brothers and other farmers have begun harvesting early-planted corn and while they won’t begin full-scale shelling of corn for a few weeks, the approach of harvest season is something I find exciting.
