ROME – Former Indiana Gov. Edgar D. Whitcomb, who rose from humble rural Indiana roots to become a leader on the seas of war and in the Indiana Statehouse, died Thursday at his home in Perry County. He was 98 years old.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence called Whitcomb a friend and a great Hoosier who inspired countless others with his bravery and public service.
