TELL CITY—Kevin Waldie of Hawesville, Ky., shot an even-par 140 to win the Schweizer Fest Golf Open by one stroke last weekend.
Waldie, a former Brescia University golfer, shot a 72 in the first round Saturday but cut that to 68 Sunday to edge five-time champion John Stiles by one stroke.
Three other former champions, Michael Daum, Mark Flannagan and Erik Lassaline, each shot 142.
Lassaline, last year’s champion, shot a 69 Saturday despite not being pleased with his putting. “If I’d putted well, I could have shot a 63,” he said.
