  • Younger pageant added to Schweizer Fest line up

    TELL CITY – A pageant for 2- to 8-year-old kids will be added to this year’s Schweizer Fest schedule. This pageant will be held July 5 in the Evangelical United Church of Christ. This pageant is open tot boys and girls from Perry and Spencer counties and from Hancock County, Ky.
    Applications can be picked up at Cinderella’s , 922 Main St. Tell City. Age groups will be decided once all applications are turned in. Deadline for applications for both pageants is July 2 by 4 p.m., no exceptions.

  • Bristow High School Class of 1962

    The last graduating class of Bristow High School, the class of 1962, met June 9 at the Patio Steakhouse for their 50th year reunion.

    All remaining graduates were present. Pictured in the front from the left are Joyce (Gehlhausen) Stallman, Ina (Kessner) Van Hoosier, Ann (Schaefer) Hoffman, Ann (VanWinkle) Sabol and Bonnie (VanWinkle) Myers. In the second row are JoElla (Lasher) Evrard, Ruth Denning, Paul Holman, Martin Holman Jr., Linus Kluesner, Edwin Denu and John Bender. Three classmates are deceased, Albert Genet, Hilbert Denu and Mary Ann (Ubelhor) May.

  • Oakwood residents participate in River City Senior Games

    Residents recently competed in the River City Senior Games sponsored by the Southwestern Indiana Council On Aging at Oakwood Health Campus.

    Games included ball toss, ring toss, washer toss, bean-bag toss and fishing game. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to the top scores in each category. Pictured is resident Clara White in the fishing competition with a SWIRCA volunteer cheering her on.

  • St. Boniface First Communion

    St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda held its first communion April 28.

    TELL CITY—Brent Owen, a former player and assistant coach for the University of Southern Indiana, was named Tell City’s boys basketball coach Tuesday.

    Bethel Christian VBS dates
    DOOLITTLE MILLS – The Bethel Christian Church in Doolittle Mills will have vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. July 16 through July 20.
    The theme is “Adventures On Promise Island.” Children of all ages including teens are welcome to attend during the week.

  • Free-movie series at Sunset Park starts in July

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Regional Arts Association will host a free-movie-night series titled “Movies at Sunset” each Thursday during July. 
    The movies will be shown at Sunset Park. The park will be closed to traffic for these evenings and parking will be available outside the floodwall.
    The TCRAA is not allow-ed to publicize the movie titles, per the licensing agreement. 

  • Tootsie Roll donations

    The Knights of Columbus Council 1172 recently donated funds from its annual Tootsie Roll fundraiser.

  • Cooling center opens at St. Paul

    PERRY COUNTY – With the mercury surpassing 100 today through the weekend, Catholic Charities and St. Paul Catholic Church have opened a cooler center in the parish hall. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Thursday (today) through Sunday. Anyone in the community needing refuge from the heat is welcome.
    Catholic Charities needs volunteers to staff the center. Anyone able to donate time can call Joan Hess at 547-0903.
