TELL CITY - Think twice before you light that cigarette in City Hall Park. It's against the law.
City Hall itself and the park surrounding it are now officially tobacco free. By a 4-1 vote June 1, members of the city council approved an ordinance banning the use of tobacco, including cigarettes and smokeless products.
Supporters called it a common-sense step toward reducing exposure to secondhand smoke. However, Councilman Gerald Yackle, who cast the lone nay vote, said government was getting too involved in people's personal decisions.
