    TELL CITY – A day of activities Saturday will give emotional and financial support to the family of a young firefighter battling cancer for the second time.

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Community Foundation awarded more than $22,000 during its annual Grant Award Luncheon Friday. The event, which was hosted at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City, recognized discretionary grant recipients who are making a difference in our community, said Grant Committee Chair Jane Efinger-Hayden.

    CANNELTON – Last year was a big one for the city of Cannelton, as it celebrated an anniversary of its founding and welcomed major improvements to the state highway it claims as its Seventh Street. 

  • St. Paul scrapbook gathering Saturday

    TELL CITY – The St. Paul’s Scrapbooking Group will sponsor the second annual scrapbooking, card-making and general crafting crop, “Mission Possible” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the parish hall.
    Cost is $25 per person and will include snacks, lunch, drinks, goodie bags and prizes. Friends registering together may enter the crop for only $45. All proceeds will support the St. Paul Catholic Church’s 2013 youth mission trip to Kenosha, Wis.

  • Royalty take to the Perry Central court Friday

    UPDATE: Due to weather conditions, Perry Central Schools have moved its homecoming ceremonies to the game scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 26. The junior-varity game Saturday will begin at 5:30 p.m.

    Organic Living program by Sisters of St. Benedict
    FERDINAND – Discover a variety of ways to live a more natural, simple and holistic life at the “Organic Living” seminar being offered by the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand.
    The program will be held from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. EST Feb. 9 at the Kordes Center, on the monastery grounds, in Ferdinand.

  • Ladies annual Lenten coffees end Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – The ladies Lenten prayer coffees will host its final gathering from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
    The ladies will gather at Cannelton United Methodist Church, which is co-hosting the final breakfast with First Baptist Church, Cannelton.
    The session will include light breakfast, coffee and a program.
    All women and girls are encouraged to attend. An offering will be taken at each session.
    Those present at Saturday’s breakfast will decide which organization gets the proceeds from the breakfasts.

  • Men’s annual Lenten breakfasts conclude

    PERRY COUNTY — The Men’s Lenten Breakfast Fellowship Group of Perry County will end its 44th annual Lenten breakfast series Saturday.
    The final breakfast will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City  from 7 to 8 a.m. Donations are $3.

    This is a Christian men’s project. These annual breakfasts started in 1976 and are for all men and boys.
    Members of all dominations and churches are welcome.

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 in Tell City will host an open house and buffet breakfast Saturday at the post home.
