    Gospel Tabernacle post winter schedule
    CANNELTON – Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle Church announces their winter schedule. Starting immediately, the church will have one service at 1 p.m. Sundays.
    Wednesday night services will be discontinued throughout winter due to bad weather conditions.
    An announcement will be made around March when Wednesday services will be held again.

  • Chamber needs community calendar dates

    PERRY COUNTY - The Perry County Chamber of Commerce is in the process of establishing the 2012 Perry County Community Calendar. 
    The chamber is asking all organizations for dates of events that are planned for the 2012 calendar year. Printed calendars which will be available in area bank lobbies, in the Chamber’s newsletter and at the events will also appear on the chamber’s Web site www. perrycountychamber.com.

  • Cannelton High School to crown homecoming royalty Saturday

    CANNELTON – Cannelton’s basketball homecoming ceremonies will be Saturday at the Cannelton Community Center during the team’s game against Medora. The junior-varisity game starts at 5 p.m. and the homecoming activities will start at approximately 6:15 p.m.

    TELL CITY – Mu Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Evangelical Church of Christ.

  • Interim joint library board gaveled for first session

    TELL CITY – It was quite a sight at the Perry County Public Library Tell City Branch Jan. 4 as the interim board of the Tell City and Cannelton branches convened for the first time as one entity.

    “This is kind of a significant start for us,” said Library Director Larry Oathout. “Tonight is a culmination of what has been a year-long process and a really good one.”

  • Perry Central, Tell City schools financial-aid workshops Wed.

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry Central High School and Tell City Junior-Senior High School will host financial-aid workshops Wednesday.
    Tell City’s workshop will begin at 6 p.m. in the Red Apple Inn cafeteria. Perry Central’s will kick off at 7:30 p.m. in the high-school library. The meeting is for seniors and their parents.

  • Birth Announcements, Jan. 12

    Grant Franklin Gaynor
    Gordon and Kasey Gaynor of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Grant Franklin Gaynor, Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long.
    Mrs. Gaynor is the former Kasey Houghland. Grant has one older sister, Gracie, 3.
    Grandparents are Mary and Charles Houghland Jr. of Tell City and Hugh and Marcella Gaynor of Hawesville, Ky.

  • Conservation district’s annual meeting Jan. 24

    PERRY COUNTY – Plans are in place for the 2011 Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual meeting. The 64th gathering of the district will begin at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Bristow Community Center.
    Margie Zoglman from Purdue Extension Perry County will speak on agriculture in Costa Rica while Natural Resources Conservation Service grazing specialist Victor Shelton will speak on dairy and beef operations in Honduras.

    Lincoln Trails Quilt Guild recently drew the winner of its annual quilt raffle. Pictured with her quilt is winner Wanda Payne of Owensboro, Ky. The quilt was made and pieced together by guild members throughout the year.
