    TELL CITY – A benefit for Perry Central student Tyler Cundiff at 1 p.m. Saturday at Indiana Realty and Auction Co. will feature many items, including Indianapolis football, hat and mini helmet memorabilia complete with signatures of some popular team members.

  • Students, volunteer leaders needed for JA project

    PERRY COUNTY – Thanks to the Perry County Women for Women Fund, Perry Central Community School and the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. are partnering with Junior Achievement of Perry County to offer the Empowering Girls to Be Entrepreneurial after-school program.   

    This program is designed to educate girls about entrepreneurship – starting your own business in hope of earning a profit – and the skills and characteristics needed to be a successful entrepreneur.

  • Council gives $3,500 back to parks board

    TELL CITY – County-council members voted unanimously in a regular meeting Tuesday to retain for 2012 their officers and the same meeting schedule they’ve been following, then split in a vote on an additional appropriation for the county parks department.

  • PCMH Cardiopulmonary Department to lead new COPD Support Group

    TELL CITY – Beginning Jan. 9, Perry County Memorial Hospital will host its first COPD Support Group Meeting at 1:30 p.m. in Conference Room C. The topic will be “What is COPD?”
    COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Chronic means long-term; obstructive refers to blockage in the airways of the lung and pulmonary refers to the lungs.
    The most common obstructive lung diseases are chronic bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis.

    Gospel Tabernacle post winter schedule
    CANNELTON – Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle Church announces their winter schedule. Starting immediately, the church will have one service at 1 p.m. Sundays. Wednesday night services will be discontinued throughout winter due to bad weather conditions.
    An announcement will be made around March when Wednesday services will be held again.

  • So. Indiana grazing conference Feb. 1

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District invites livestock producers in Perry County to attend the Southern Indiana Grazing Conference. It will be held from 7 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Simon J. Graber Building in Odon.

  • SOS Kids Parent Network meeting today

    JASPER – The Supporting Our Special Kids Parent Network will hold a meeting about “Parent to Parent Sharing,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. EST today at the Shiloh United Methodist Church, Highway 56 in Jasper.
    Guest speakers will be Phil Lueken and all SOS Kids Parent Network members. He will share his family’s story and speak about how you can be your child’s best advocate. 
    The group will also open the floor for discussion and sharing from other parents.
