    Agape to host vacation Bible school June 27-July 1
    CANNELTON – The Agape Community Church, 101 Taylor St. in Cannelton, will host “Journey to the Center of the Heart,” vacation Bible school June 27 through July 1.
    The school is for students preschool through fifth grade. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day and will include a teaching time, crafts and a snack.
    Transportation can be provided for any child wanting to attend by calling the church at 547-2772.

  • Summer vacation Bible school to be held at local churches

    TELL CITY – United First Methodist Church on 10th and Mozart streets and St. Paul Catholic Church on Main and Jefferson streets are together planning for a “Son Surf: Beach Bash” vacation Bible school during the week of June 27 through June 30.
    Children ages 4 and 5, and school children who have completed Kindergarten by June will attend United First Methodist Church from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Children in grades first through fourth, completing these grade levels by June, will attend at St. Paul from 9 to 11 a.m.

  • Smith graduates from Ball State University

    MUNCIE – Lauren N. Smith of Jasper graduated from Ball State University May 7 with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and a minor in food management.

  • Farewell reception for Lasley set for Friday

    TELL CITY – The Tell City–Perry County Public Library staff will bid farewell to Evelyn Lasley Friday with a retirement reception from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the genealogy department of the library.
    Lasley has been working at the library since 1989.
    The public is encouraged to attend and wish her well.

  • Five generations

    Laura (Bolin) Burden recently celebrated being a great-great-grandmother of three baby girls. The first, Audra Lynn Bolin, was born April 29 to Tim and Laira Bolin. Audra’s grandparents are Dennis and Lisa Bolin. The second, Ryleigh Katherine Scott, was May 11 to Uriah Scott and Megan Whitworth. Ryleigh’s grandmother is Denisa Whitworth. The last baby girl, Makenzie Lynn Bolin, was born May 29 to Cody and Mandy Bolin. Makenzie’s grandparents are Charles and Cheryl Cravens. Great-grandparents of all three babies are Dennis and Peggy Bolin.

    Cole James Harpenau
    Brandon and Jessica Harpenau of Jeffersonville announce the birth of their son, Cole James Harpenau, Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 201⁄2 inches long.
    Cole has one older sister, Adilyn Marie.
    Grandparents are Eric and Tara Leeson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bob and Becky McCabe of Indianapolis and Maurice and Donna Harpenau of Tell City.
