    TELL CITY – Members of the Tell City High School Class of 2012 were recognized for academic excellence and awarded scholarships and other honors during the school’s annual honors ceremony May 13:

  • Perry Central H.S. seniors awarded scholarships

    LEOPOLD – Members of Perry Central High School's Class of 2012 were recognized with scholarships and other academic honors during a May 21 awards banquet. The following students were recognized:

    Ivan Bland: University of Southern Indiana Departmental Scholarship $4,000 per year; Ivy Tech Valedictorian Scholarship $1,500; ATTC Scholarship $1,000. Total $18,500.

    James Bluhm: Perry-Spencer Communications Scholarship, $500.

    Colt Brown: Vincennes University Scholar, full tuition.

  • Forest’s new district ranger begins duties today

    TELL CITY – A Forest Service employee with leadership roles working at several national forests will begin work today as the ranger for the Tell City and Brownstown districts of the Hoosier National Forest.

    Hoosier Forest Supervisor Melany Glossa announced that Chris Zimmer has been selected for the position. He fills a vacancy created when District Ranger Anne Carey accepted a position in Ohio.

    TELL CITY – Perry County Council members voted at a regular meeting May 24 to allot the county’s parks and recreation department $3,500 it had withheld previously, but not without asking some hard questions.

    CANNELTON – Cannelton High School announces the following students were named to the school’s honor roll for the second term, second grading period:

  • Schenk graduates with honors from Mater Dei High School

    EVANSVILLE – Kelsey Schenk, 18, daughter of former Tell City resident Jane Hoffman Schenk and Evansville resident Scott Schenk, graduated from Mater Dei High School in Evansville May 19 during a ceremony held at the Centre.

    Schenk was a three-year member of the varsity swim team where she was seventh in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in backstroke. She was also a member of pep club, service club, prom committee and Friends of Rachel. Schenk graduated with academic honors.

  • Wagner earns Daughters of Isabella $500 scholarship

    TELL CITY – A Daughters of Isabella $500 scholarship was awarded to Amanda Wagner, daughter of Chris and Janet Wagner. She is a 2012 graduate of Tell City High School and valedictorian of her class.

    This award is based on financial need, academics, grade-point average and extra curricular activities in areas such as community, civic and religion. The length of college or program is also taken into consideration. The student must be a child or grandchild of a member of the local D. of I. circle.
