  • Tell City edges Vikings

    TELL CITY—Trent Zuelly went 4 for 4 as Tell City nipped North Posey 7-6 in PAC baseball Saturday.
    Gant Miller, Casey May and C.J. Rowe each added two hits for the Marksmen and Austin Paulin drove in two runs.
    Tell City outhit North Posey 13-7, but the Vikings took advantage of seven walks to build a 5-4 lead with three runs in the top of the fourth inning.
    Freshman left-hander Reed Goffinet entered the game that inning with one out and the bases loaded but escaped further damage.

  • Commodores outhit Cougars

    LEOPOLD—Sydney Goffinet went 4 for 4 as Perry Central beat North Harrison 8-4 in girls softball Tuesday.
    Morgan Richardson added a triple and a single to Perry Central’s 13-hit attack. Hannah Edwards hit a double and a single and Ashley Guillaume had a double.
    Edwards drove in three runs. Richardson, Goffinet and Brittany Parker each drove in two.
    “We were very aggressive at the plate and also ran the bases very well, paying attention where the ball was hit and picking up the base coaches,” said Perry Central Coach Mark Rothgerber.

  • Perry Central edges Paoli in 7th

    PAOLI—Perry Central scored two runs in the seventh inning to beat Paoli 5-4 in baseball Monday.
    The Commodores trailed 4-3 entering the top of the seventh.
    With one out, Anthony Mosby walked. Trey Mullis followed with a double, but Mosby was thrown out at home on the play for the second out.
    Alton Cummings singled home Mullis, though, to tie the score.
    Cummings took second on the throw home and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Bryce Ridener.

    TELL CITY—Tell City’s 10 hits and aggressive base running and Cannelton’s four errors combined to give the Marksmen a 9-2 baseball victory Monday.
    The Marksmen stole 12 bases, with Brian Arnold getting three and four other players stealing two apiece.
    “We run the bases aggressively and put pressure on teams,” said Tell City Coach Jason Wilkerson.

    ROCKPORT – The future of a gasification plant in Rockport is likely grim after Indiana legislators finally came to terms for new requirements the company would have to meet. The bill will likely halt the venture as developers regroup and determine if they should move forward with plans in a state that seems to not want their services, Indiana Gasification project manager Mark Lubbers said.
