  • Plea agreement reached in OWI arrest

    TELL CITY – A Perry County man arrested for drunk driving last year has settled his case by pleading guilty to an amended charge of reckless driving.

    Joseph Lackey, of 14775 Oriole Road, Leopold, accepted a plea agreement and will serve six months of unsupervised probation. Lackey was an Indiana conservation officer and candidate for sheriff when he was arrested in Tell City. He later retired from the Department of Natural Resources.

  • Tell City Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana plans 30-year celebration

    TELL CITY – 2011 marked Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana’s 30th year in Perry County. The building at 1034 31st St. in Tell City has housed Ivy Tech since 1981.

    To thank the community and commemorate 30 wonderful years of educating our citizens, we will be hosting a celebration beginning Aug. 9. All events surrounding the celebration will take place at the City Hall Park in downtown Tell City, and are open to the public.

  • Arnold pleads guilty to murder

    TELL CITY – Michael D. Arnold, 19, arrested in January in connection with the death of a 1-year-old, pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony murder. The penalty carries a maximum prison sentence of 65 years and a $10,000 fine.

    Under terms of the agreement, Arnold is expected to be sentenced to 45 years in the Indiana Department of Correction and pay $165 in court costs. Arnold will receive credit for time served during pretrial detention, beginning with his Jan. 21 arrest.

    TELL CITY – Perry County’s commissioners heard a presentation July 20 from the county’s Quality of Life Committee, which included an excerpt of a video presentation titled “The Art of Living.” Intended to show what makes Perry County a special place to live and work, the first of three parts is available as a link on the home page of this site. Clicking it allows readers to view it and the two other parts and other promotional videos at YouTube.

  • Two missing teens located in California

    SALINAS, Calif. – Two Cannelton teenagers missing since early June were located Saturday in western California and police said two other people who disappeared with them are believed to still be in the Pacific Coast area.
