  • Masterson – Gagliardi

    Shelly Masterson of Cannelton and Vince Gagliardi of Maceo, Ky., announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of the late William and Lucille Masterson. She is a 1993 graduate of Cannelton High School and graduated twice from Western Kentucky University in 1998 and 2004. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and master’s degree in exceptional education.
    She is a Title I teacher at Cannelton City Schools.

  • German Ridge Heritage Project excavation scheduled July 9-27

    PERRY COUNTY – The German Ridge Heritage Project seeks descendant family members for genealogy, sharing family documents and oral history. Volunteers are also encouraged to donate time as assistance is needed in field excavations, laboratory analysis and historical-genealogical research. Some of the families of interest include Bryant, Connor, Debus, Hall, Maier, Popp (Bopp) and Speidel.

    Kimberly Butler of Ola-the, Kan., and Ryan McDan-iel of Merrillville were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony held Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville.

  • Earl and Martha Miller

    Earl and Martha Miller of Tell City celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary June 3, 2012.
    Mr. Miller married the former Martha Wiederkehr June 3, 1967, at St. Meinrad Catholic Church.

    The couple are the parents of Pat Miller and his wife, Carlene of Apex, N.C., and Frank Miller and his wife, Christie of Philpot, Ky. They have one grandchild, Cecelia Miller.

  • Carl and Jeanene Champion

    Carl and K. Jeanene Champion of Tell City plan to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary June 29, 2012, with their family.

    Mr. Champion and the former K. Jeanene Haynes were married June 29, 1952, at Trinity Methodist Church in Rockport.
    They are the parents of Carla K. Weatherholt of Rotonda Way, Fla., and Jeffrey L. Champion and Camilla J. Ayer, both of Santa Claus. They have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
    Mr. Champion is retired from Maxon Marine Industries and K. Jeanene is retired from General Electric.

  • Wes and Bev Wilson

    Wes and Bev Wilson of Tell City celebrated their first wedding anniversary June 14, 2012.

    Mr. Wilson and the former Bev Harris were married during a private ceremony June 14, 2011, in Clearwater Beach, Fla.
    The couple has three children, Shelby G. Wilson, Deacon W. Wilson and Bishop C. Wilson.
    Mr. Wilson is the son of Ronald Wilson and Paula Wilson of Rockport. Mrs. Wilson is the daughter of William Terry and Traci Harris of Tobinsport.

  • Legacy beats co-leaders

    TELL CITY – Legacy Financial Group scored 27 runs Tuesday to beat league co-leaders Hair Razors and Cash Waggner & Associates in back-to-back games in Tell City’s age-13-16 girls softball league.
    Legacy’s double wins, along with two wins by Ohio Valley Gas this week, produced a tight four-team race with one week left in the regular season.
    Cash Waggner and Hair Razors are tied for first place at 4-2 and Legacy and Ohio Valley Gas are each one game back at 3-3.

  • Post 254 improves to 4-1

    ROCKPORT – After losing its season opener, Rockport's American Legion baseball team bounced back by earning four consecutive victories.
    Trent Benningfield had four RBIs and Jordan Heck hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to lead Post 254 to its first win 11-3 over Jasper June 6.
    Benningfield had a two-run single, a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly, which helped Post 254 build a 7-2 lead going into the sixth.

  • Tell City students recognized at annual honors banquet

    TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School hosted its annual honor program May 14. There were 111 students who were recognized at the program, which was held in the school auditorium.
