  • Dollars for Scholars accepting loan applications

    TELL CITY – The Board of Directors of Dollars for Scholars of Tell City-Perry County has announced it is accepting applications for interest-free loans to be awarded to students pursuing post-high school education for the fall 2012 semester.
    Applications are available at the offices of the guidance counselors at Cannelton, Perry Central and Tell City high schools and at Fifth Third Bank. The deadline for submitting applications is June 1.

    Jordan McKenzie Somers and Chad Stephen Peter of Tell City announce their engagement and approaching marriage.
    The bride-elect is the daughter of David and Toni England and David and Cindy Somers all of Portland. She is a 2008 graduate of Jay County High School and attended Vincennes University. She works as a cashier at Rally’s.
    Mr. Peter is the son of Steve and Jenny Peter of Tell City. He is a 2008 graduate of Perry Central High School and is a 2010 graduate of Vincennes University. He works in the floater-door department at Masterbrand Cabinets.

  • Hasenour – Kleaving

    Christine Rose Hasenour of Schnellville and Daniel Joseph Kleaving of Tell City were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Catholic Church in Schnellville.

    The bride is the daughter of Kenny and Diane Hasenour of Schnellville. Mr. Kleaving is the son of Gilbert and Margie Kleaving of Tell City.
    The bride was given away in marriage by her father in a double-ring ceremony officiated by the Revs. Guy Mansini OSB and Anthony Vinson OSB.

    Sherryll Macaraig of Queens, N.Y., and Mike Basinger of Boonville announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Arsenio and Dorie Macaraid of Batangas City, Philippines. She is a graduate of Batangas National High School and of the University of Batangas. She is employed by Trump Apartments in Manhattan, N.Y.

  • Cannelton elementary schools announce preschool, kindergarten information for 2012-13 school year

    CANNELTON – A pre-enrollment-registration schedule for prospective preschool and kindergarten students for the 2012-13 school year will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. April 25.
    A parent or guardian of any prospective or currently enrolled preschool or kindergarten student should proceed to the office at the William Bennett Early Learning Center, located at 411 Washington Street in Cannelton.
    Preschool students can be 3 years old by Aug. 1, 4 years old or 5 years old (if birth date is after Aug. 1, 2011) and must be toilet trained.

  • CCC Preschool to host open house Thursday

    TELL CITY – The Community Christian Church Preschool will open registration for the 2012-13 school year at its open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
    Parents will have the opportunity to tour the preschool, visit classrooms, review the curriculum, meet the staff and take advantage of early enrollment. A registration fee is due at time of enrollment.

  • Archabbey to host trivia fundraiser

    ST. MEINRAD – The Abbey Press-Saint Meinrad Archabbey Relay for Life team will host its first Trivia Night fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. March 31 at the Archabbey Guest House and Retreat Center dining room.
    The event will feature an evening of friendly matching of wits. Each team will answer the same questions, with their answers written on a score sheet.
    Each team may consist of any two to four players. Participants are invited to organize their own team or may choose to be assigned to a team.

    Shutt guest speaker at Gospel Tabernacle
    CANNELTON – Gospel Tabernacle Church in Cannelton will welcome special guest speaker the Rev. Patty Shutt during 1 p.m. worship March 18.
    The public is invited to attend.
    The church will also begin midweek Bible study sessions at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting March 14.
