  • TC expects to move up in PAC standings

    TELL CITY—Tell City’s volleyball team is still young, but the Marksmen have enough experience that Coach Dalonda Hayes thinks they can move up in PAC standings and contend for the Class 2A sectional title.
    The Marksmen were 19-12 last year and advanced to the championship match of their sectional for the first time in 20 years.
    They were 3-5 in the Pocket Athletic Conference, though, tying for sixth place in the tough, nine-team league.

  • Triple play highlight of annual old-timers game

    TELL CITY—A triple play helped the Odds beat the Evens in the annual Schweizer Fest old-timers baseball game Tuesday.

  • Boy Scouts trip to Tennessee

    The St. Paul Boy Scouts Troop 192 went to Camp Mack Morris in Tennessee during the week of June 5. The boys earned important badges to help them advance in the troop. Those attending were, in front from the left, Scott Pannett, Jeff Scott and Andy Pannett. Second row: Josh Scott, Caleb Oleson, Eric Schaad, Michael Poehlein, Tony Miller, Sebastian Sturgeon, Ben Scott and Paul Miller. Third row: Keith Holman, James Payne, Jacob Hammack, Kyle Fuchs, Evan Hall, Clint Waninger and Scott Pannett. Not present but attending for part of the week were Jacob Miller and his father, Mark Miller.

  • Community choir to start fall rehearsals

    TELL CITY – The Lincoln Hills Community Choir will begin fall rehearsals Tuesday. The choir will meet at Evangelical United Church of Christ, 802 10th St., Tell City, every Tuesday at 7 p.m.
    All singers in the community are welcome, and they should enter the church through the Tots Lots door on 10th St.

  • Friends of the Library to host annual book sale

    TELL CITY – The Friends of the Tell City-Perry County Public Library will hold their annual book sale at the library, 2328 Tell St., from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
    A special preview sale for Friends of the Library members only will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday. New memberships will be accepted before and during this special sale. Applications for membership are available at the library and on the library’s Web site, www.tcpclibrary.org. Annual dues are $5 for individuals and $10 for a family.

  • Masonic lodge picnic Sunday

    BRANCHVILLE – Branchville Masonic Lodge 496 will hold its annual family picnic at the Harold Lynch Homeplace Sunday.
    Dinner will start at 1 p.m. Hamburgers, bratwursts and hot dogs will be provided. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish.
    Music and games will also be available during the day.

  • Hubert and Alice Kleaving

    Hubert and Alice Kleaving of rural Tell City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Aug. 6, 2011 with a family cookout.

    Mr. Kleaving and the former Alice Rohl were married Aug. 5, 1961 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in St. Croix.
    They are the parents of four children, Diana Hedinger (Charlie), Randy Kleaving (Dawn), Darlene Davis (Tim) and Rick Kleaving (Sarah).
    The Kleavings have nine grandchildren, Jared and Clint Hedinger, Blake and Adam Kleaving, Lauren, Emily and Claire Davis and Tyler and Tayton Kleaving.

  • Kemper – Hendershot

    Molly Kemper and Ross Hendershot of Grandview announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Gary and Cindy Kemper of St. Anthony. She is a graduate of Ivy Tech with an associate’s degree in medical assisting. She works as a medical assistant for Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

  • Boze – Simon

    Tracy Boze of Boonville and Gregory Simon of Tell City announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Gregory and Susan Boze of Boonville. She is a graduate of Boonville High School and University of Southern Indiana. She works at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
    Mr. Simon is the son of Paula Simon-Stiles of Troy and the late Daniel “Frank” Simon. He is a graduate of Tell City High School and works at Parker Hannifin.

  • Schwartz – Brown

    Mr. and Mrs. Earl D. Schwartz of Tell City and Mr. and Mrs. Windell B. Brown of Marysville are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Kelli Danielle Schwartz and Jason Aron Brown.

    The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Perry Central High School and a 2007 graduate of Indiana University Southeast, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
